Best places to chill in Leeds

Sometimes you need to get out of your head, away from studies and relax. Leeds and Yorkshire in general has so much to offer in terms of escapism. Here are our picks of how to chill out in Leeds and the surrounding areas.

The 212 Cafe & Bar

This hidden gem is great if you wand a hangout during the day or even late into the night - it is known for its beyond cool vibe. The urban-style interior design with dark walls and contrasting stools, are sure to draw you in.

212 Cafe & Bar is located in the centre of Leeds city but it is a great quiet get-away from the bustle.

Grab yourself a cool one or even simply a hot drink with a friend. The perfect place to get away. Or if you want to stay out all night, with live DJ sets and a solid vibe, we highly recommend checking this place out.

Kirkstall Abbey

Abbey Rd, Kirkstall, Leeds LS5 3EH.

If you're looking for space to get out of the city, then this 12-century Cistercian monastery is definitely a great place to go. Kirkstall Abbey is a well-known Leeds landmark, and the reason is; it's simply impressive. From it's architectural beauty, to it's hidden secrets of the ruins - you could easily spend your entire day exploring.

The abbey is great for an Instagram post too.

Since there is 24-hectares to roam and explore for free, you should definitely bring some food and treat your and your friends to a picnic. If you're looking to try some food here, then the last weekend of the month is for you - filled with a delicious deli market.

Yeadon Tarn

Yeadon, Leeds LS19 7UP

This is another natural wonder in the Leeds and Yorkshire area. In the centre of this 17-hectare beauty-spot, is a huge awesome lake. The lake, during the day is never quiet, from yachts to small boats, to kayaking - there is always something to watch on these amazing waters.

Away from the lake are numerous paths that you can take and explore. Adventure parks and BMX parks too - perfect for kids. Like above, this is a great place for a picnic.

Woodhouse Moor Skatepark

Woodhouse Ln, Woodhouse, Leeds LS6 1SJ

For something different, why not head up to the north-east of Leeds area to check out Woodhouse Moor Skatepark. This a great free and option to get away from the city centre and clear your head and to chill.

Woodhouse Moor Skate Park is known to Leeds skaters as a rite of passage.

This is a great get-away for an hour or two. The park is pretty big too and you will have lots of opportunity to spot local legends and even the beginners too. The skate park has half pipes, to flat banks and even back-to-back quarters.

Roundhay Park

Mansion Ln, Roundhay, Leeds LS8 2HH

Roundhay Park is a bit of a local Leeds legend. It is one of the largest urban parks in Europe and you won't be stuck for things to do. There are huge landscaped gardens to wander through, and even find hidden path ways. Another lake (it appears to us that we love Lakes...).

Enjoy Tennis? There are furbished Tennis courts available too.

Of course there is an outdoor gym, another skate park and football pitches. This place has huge and definitely has something for everyone. It's obvious why it made the list.

Otley Chevin Forest Park

East Chevin Road, Otley,LS21 3DD

The park has a 280m high north-facing cliff and this gives you great views of the Wharfe Valley. The entire space was designated as a Local Nature Reserve bac in 1989, to save it from being spoilt.

Of course dogs are welcome however, they must be kept under control.

This is definitely a great spot to unwind, chill and escape the Leeds city life.

Headrow House

Need to chill on the weekend, then this is a great place where you could have for a few drinks and see where the night takes you. You could be sat on the terrace, listening gto local DJs playing their set with a very chill vibe watching the sun set. The cocktails are knowing for their taste and their summer vibes.

Headrow House is known for it's great atmosphere, DJs, and local gigs too.
