Chelmsford driving test Centre is moving to a new temporary location
Update: temporary measures for Chelmsford driving test centre
From Monday 10 March 2025, car driving tests booked at Chelmsford driving test centre (DTC) will be carried out at a new temporary address.

The last day of testing at Hanging Gardens Tea Rooms and Garden Centre will be tomorrow, Saturday 8 March 2025.

The change of temporary relocation is needed due to an ongoing incident at the Chelmsford driving test centre. No tests will be lost in the move to a new temporary site.

The previous temporary testing location at Hanging Gardens Tea Rooms and Garden Centre was arranged on a short-term basis and is no longer available for driving tests.

The new site is less than 10 minutes away.

Oaklands Park

Moulsham Street

Chelmsford, Essex

CM2 9AQ

Arriving at the temporary test centre

All those arriving for tests should park on the surrounding roads, then make their way to the Museum reception area to meet their examiner. 

Pupils and instructors must not use the car park

Toilets and refreshment facilities are available on site.

Letting your pupils know

DVSA have contacted car candidates affected by this temporary relocation. However, if you have booked a test on behalf of your pupil, please let them know about these changes.
